I Have IBS-D Does Anyone Take Immodium Sometimes To Help During A Special Occasion ?
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

My ibs has been out of control lately but I definitely know food is a trigger especially sugar. This time of year is especially hard as everything is about food and I find myself not eating just to avoid having a issue but we know not eating can also cause gas build up and that can also get ibs going. I can’t win. I have two days where I have to drive further away than usual to visit family for Christmas and I am considering taking immodium
(Anti diarrhea medication) just to get me through… read more

I take Imodium all the time because I'm afraid of the explosion of diarrhea. Right now I think it's backfired and I have terrible constipation.

That's how I found out I had IBS. Pain in the left side, so bad that I couldn't walk. Along with a 7 day constipation. After a colonoscopy, I was told I had IBS.

Colonoscopy/endoscopy
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

I’m having a colonoscopy/endoscopy on June 21st.what should I expect?

A myIBSteam Member

As someone mentioned, the prep that you need to do the day before a colonoscopy is by far the worst part of things. The actual colonoscopy is no big deal. As part of the prep, I was told to take… read more

New To Site--not Sure I Have IBS. Here Are My Symptoms:
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

My symptoms:

Rarely have diarrhea
Rarely have constipation.
With certain foods I have either (or both) stomach/intestinal rumbling and "bubbling" as if there is fermentation.
The rumbling sounds occur usually after eating and at night--kinda sounds like I am hungry, but have already eaten so I am full.
The rumbling sometimes leads to passing wind and then it stops temporarily.
These sounds even occur after drinking water!
Trigger foods: Sodas, sugars, flour products/carbs, alcoholic… read more

Do You Find IBS Changing Over Time?
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

In the past I typically would have C for a bit and then have an attack of D that would last a few horrible hours with pain, chills, and occasionally nausea. But then it would mostly be over and able to continue with life until the next one. Lately the attacks are not so intense, just feel not right and not want to do anything. Almost like there is stuff in me I have to get out, but now it takes days instead of hours. I don’t feel as bad, but it is still annoying because I just want to lay around… read more

Is There A Bearable Way To Mix Cholestyramine Powder?
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have been taking cholestyramine powder for about 6 months and if you take it you know it is not pleasant. It does not dissolve in liquid and if not mixed up vigorously you are swallowing lumps of orange powder. If there is anyone out there who takes it and has found a halfway bearable way of taking it I would greatly appreciate any advice. It helps so well for me but I want to puke everytime I drink it. What sucks is just about everything bothers me and I NEED to take this medication if I ever… read more

. Most Days If I Dont Take Immodium At Night For The First Hour I Can Go To The Toilet Up To 7 Times Does Anyone Have This Problem.
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

First thing in the morning if I don't take immodium at night I can go to the loo up to 7 times in the first hour. My doctor reckons this part of the IBS but when your staying at someone's house with only one bathroom it gets a bit embarrassing also we travel a lot and that is the same when your back and for the washroom. Has anyone else experienced this and can they tell me how to cope.

Does Anybody Else Find Sugar Causes Crippling Stomach Pain
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

Everytime I eat sugar in any form my stomach swells and I suffer crippling pain, nothing eases it. I try to avoid sugar as much as possible but because I'm so hormonal I tend to crave it occasionally. :(
