It cost me my marriage bc she could not understand why I could not make it to some of my morning meetings. Ends up being a good thing bc she only wanted me for my $$$ so next time around I'll find one that I love & can afford. Lol. My point being is if your partner can't understand how it afffects your daily life then there is probably some deeper things going on like unresolved issues, being controlling, passive aggressive, etc....
IBS has surely been the hardest thing to deal with in my entire life bc there is not a day that goes by I'm not affected.

dont give up on relationships, i had ..then i met my present partner, and he is absolutely brilliant with my ibs and does all the cooking etc, he also understands why i dont want to go out either so he doesnt get at me, i dont like going out any more as im always scared of having an episode and through worrying about it i probably bring it on more so its a catch 22. its just easier to stay in these days

It took a long time for my husband to understand now he just leaves me alone so I can sit in the loo. There's nothing worse when someone keeps asking are you all right in there . It does interfere with my life dramatically cancel lots of socialising and 2 holidays have been cancelled because of flares . It does get me down just getting over a flare up now . When I flare I am in so much pain in my legs . Stomach and bottom really fed up with it now .

Yes as Jolene said makes me tired too @ times I had a flare up @ the wkend looked 6 months gone pain awful wanted to stay in bed think had put cream in my Indian though I said not to & why am dairy intolerant think cos had eaten more than usual. My portions are usually small helps IBS, digestion little bread. Can flare up even if careful getting woundup/worrying causes it I think. Some people I feel think I'm auckward cos I don't eat certain things like garlic some veg (causes gas!) Sauces, fruit dairy that's a few! Makes me not want to eat @ times I've lost some weight. Exercise helps stretches too good for intestines!

My husband and children are very understanding. My IBS make me so sick sometimes that i just sleep for about a week because it inflames all my intestines and it last for about a week. My doctor gave me Trepiline and Lokit and I'm almost 3years on it but still sometime i get sick. I didn't realized that there are so many people who live with IBS.
