Is It Safe To Get A Flu Shot If You Have Ibs? Will It Cause A Flare Up Or Symptoms?
A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

I usually get a flu shot but now that I was diagnosed with ibs I am concerned if it is safe and if it will cause the ibs symptoms to worsen & flare up.
The flu shots are now available at the doctors office and clinics

I can not do the Flu shot. I found out last month from the nurse, that I was probably allergic to one or more of the components in the Flu shot. She stated that it has egg in it plus artificial flavoring and colors. I have a high intolerance to anything artificial and I can't handle eggs.

The last flu shot I received was back in the mid 90's. I haven't had one since and I haven't had the flu either. I had a bad reaction to the flu vaccine. My doctor's office thinks I was allergic to one or more components that make up the flu shot. We have a new vaccine nurse at our doctor's office and she reviewed the flu shot and said I still can't get it. After what happened with the first one I don't care if I ever get another one. Starting in Sept. is when I start to take my immune building vitamins and take them all the way through late Spring. I do the best I can to get enough sleep, eat right and get some exercise. Plus I'm a big water drinker.
