A myIBSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have had chronic constipation my whole life. Within the last 2yrs it has gotten worse. Most of the time it will last over a month with no production. Yeah... Go ahead and say it... "She is full of crap!" Well.. Yes I am, literally. Then my Dr will tell me to do a prep just to clear me out. Then it starts all over. I have been taking Amitiza 24 MCG twice a day to help me go, for about 1 and a half yrs. It worked at first but its like I became immune to it. It no longer works. I continue to… read more

Yes I have IBS since I was little. I have severe constipation, but I go the next day. I am still full like I haven't gone in months. I am bloated and in pain worse now that I am older. Nothing works for me either. Worst of all people keep asking me if I am pregnant when I had my tube destroyed.

Magnesium citrate capsules worked for me. Has to be CITRATE to be effective. My Nurse Practitioner recommended 1-3 caps daily to stay regular and I've had great results!

I had a cat scan in May and I have diverticulosis too.Constipation or diarrhea can be a symptom of it. I recently started taking Phillips Laxative tablets. So far I go a little everyday don’t know how long this will last but with diverticulosis you don’t want to be constipated and strain and I’ve been constipation since 2012 when I started taking protonix and just this year trying to do something about it. I didn’t want to become laxative dependent but now since diagnosed with Diverticulitis Have took this more seriously

I guess I forgot to send it..I too have had ibs cramps from diarrhea and nausea ive had to go to the ER multiple times. .if I can prevent myself from throwing up I don't gave to go to the ER..but when I do they give me antinausea medsand dilaudid or morphine the painbis so hortific..for moderate to somewhat severe pain I have been on doxycycline for 40 years but my new np refuses to prescribe it I suppose because it has .005 mg Atropine in it an extremely mild narcotic along with loperamide I believe.
It is called Lomotil..she iz sending me to yet another GI specialist whomnim sure will order my 9th colonoscopy and tgen end up telling me "you have ibs"...This has happened many times but I guess the GI Drs want to be sure thetes nothing more serious. .the biggest problem with the coloniscopies is tgey dont give md enough verset so im aaake and in oain the whole time. ..And this np has sent me to yet another GI to get my doxycycline..and I predict the same thing will happen..another painful colonoscopy with tge same diagnoses ibs. .ive gad ig since my early 20s..40 years..but had symptoms as a tedn when I was stressed or anxious. .Now it's a combination if known foods I like that dont like me...nuts..popcorn. .fatty foods..plus stress...its an awfil "disease" with terrible pain I would never wish on anybody..God Bless you all...

You poor thing. I hope you get some help for that. I suffer occasionally usually after a bad about of diarrhoea and it's excruciating.
