I have been reading about the low fodmap diet and was wondering if it is truly successful in helping control flareups and symptoms. It looks like a complicated diet to follow. Any thoughts, suggestions and feedback is helpful

Members shared mixed experiences with the low FODMAP diet for IBS, with some finding significant relief when combined with gluten-free eating or weight loss, while others described inconsistent results or found it too restrictive to maintain long-term. Several members emphasized that IBS can be unpredictable, with foods that help one day sometimes triggering symptoms the next, making it difficult to pinpoint what truly works. A recurring theme was the challenge of following the diet while traveling or visiting family, and the frustration of managing a condition where no single solution works for everyone or even reliably for the same person over time.

Sometimes nothing helps. I get frustrated because one day something agrees with me and not the next.
