Does anyone suffer breathing issues or rapid heart beat? I've read that bloating from IBS could put pressure of the lungs. I just know that I feel crappy more often than not.

Members confirmed experiencing breathing difficulties and rapid heartbeat alongside IBS, with many attributing these symptoms to bloating, dehydration, anxiety, and the body's fight-or-flight response triggered by digestive distress. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped, including humming to stimulate the vagus nerve and calm the nervous system, pacing physical activity to avoid overexertion, and undergoing cardiac testing like nuclear stress tests for reassurance that symptoms are gut-related rather than heart-related. A recurring theme was the vicious cycle between IBS and anxiety, where digestive symptoms heighten stress and stress worsens digestive symptoms, leaving members searching for ways to break the loop and regain control.

When my ibs is at its worse ill get symtons of anxiety(fight or flight) without all the mental workup. Then my chest gets tight and its harder to take a deep belly breath. Then your having breathings issues. Try humming. Hum at a low tone inbetween breaths for as long as you can. (Like on the drive to work). That stimulates the vagus nerve around your vocal cords which calms down your nervous system. Allowing your chest to relax making breathing easier.
