Dx IBS-D but have had weeks that I am constipated and then diarrhea for days. I can have weeks of normal GI going-ons as well. So wondering if this dx is correct or if something else could be going on. I was treated for diverticulitis (suspected) in February. Things were GREAT while I was on those meds.

I have been like that for 10 years. It’s IBS Combo. So, medication for diarrhea doesn’t work, and medication for constipation doesn’t work. I’ve been to 3 different gastroenterologists over 10 years. The last one told me to take Imodium for diarrhea, then once that has stopped, take Miralax for constipation. The problem with that is the timing and dosage.

Yep that's IBS for ya! It's very hard to control and unpredictable. I've had it for many years. I just deal with it on a day to day basis. When I go out I don't eat. I mostly eat plain soft food...no grease! I'm a vegetarian. My triggers are coffee, alcohol ,dairy, and rich desserts!
It affects ones psychy so stay on a mild tranquilizer. Best wishes!
