Members shared how pain and cramping were among the most surprising and difficult IBS symptoms, with many describing sharp abdominal pain that signals an oncoming flare, often followed by diarrhea or constipation. Several members highlighted overlooked symptoms like debilitating fatigue after flares, nausea, sweating, muscle and joint pain, and even voice changes or hemorrhoids. A recurring theme was the unpredictable and exhausting cycle of alternating between constipation and diarrhea, with many members sharing medications like dicyclomine, Linzess, Miralax, and Imodium that help manage symptoms, though finding balance and consistency remains an ongoing challenge.

I get horrible nausea along with pain and bloating. Also muscle and joint pain in my back, shoulders and knees. I can go for months with manageable symptoms, and then out of nowhere, I'm down and out for days. I forgot to add the sweats are awful too.

I have IBS-C. I'm on Linzess, which worked in begining now have to take with Miralax. The up's n downs are too much. Either have hard pain in stomach, feels like a bowling ball or in the bathroom constantly. I want IBS gone or would like to know where it came from.

OMG, I clicked the up thumb to nearly all of them. Got one to add: huge bleeding hemorrhoids! I, too, get the constipation first, painful cramping and chills, and then diarrhea. BUT guys! I have found one solution for the painful cramping=dicyclomine in 10 or 20 mgs. It halts the cramping at least so I can sleep. It has helped me so much. I start out with a 10 mg (20 mgs cut in half) and rarely have had to go to 20 mgs.

Constant stomach pain. Runny diarrhea which goes right through me. I have ruined many underwear.

Probably the fatigue after a flare up. Takes a day or so to recover.
