My husband has IBS and it effects our relationship and life in general. He has pretty much stopped any social contact and we only do very local things. I am worried about him all the time and on high alert when I hear the toilet flush. Even on good days, I feel I ruin them as I am worrying for him.
Anyone in a similar situation, just want someone to talk to
Hello, I myself have ibs . I am married and what has helped me with my husband is when he listens to me , or allows me to cry on him. Allows me to say what is worrying me. If we go anywhere he ensures that there is always a restroom. Or he takes over the conversation if I start to look uncomfortable because Iβm probably getting a flare up.
I too avoid conversations because it seems weird to just step away in the middle of a conversation.

How can you support your husband with IBS while also reclaiming your shared life together?
It's really tough when IBS starts to shrink the world for both of you. The good news is that with some adjustments, it's possible to find a new rhythm that works for you both.
