Members shared mixed experiences with onions and IBS, with some noting they can tolerate them without issue while others confirmed they are a high FODMAP food that can trigger symptoms. Several members found relief by eliminating onions and garlic from their diet, with some using infused olive oils as a gentler alternative that doesn't upset their stomachs as much. A recurring theme was that IBS triggers vary widely from person to person, with many members identifying stress and fatigue as more significant factors than specific foods.

Onions and garlic do not bother me. Most foods do not. I think stress is my worse IBS trigger. I have to watch what I eat because I am a T2 diabetic. Have eaten to much high carb food the past few days.
