Everytime I eat sugar in any form my stomach swells and I suffer crippling pain, nothing eases it. I try to avoid sugar as much as possible but because I'm so hormonal I tend to crave it occasionally. :(

Members connected over the question of whether sugar causes stomach pain and swelling, with many sharing that yes, sugar is a real trigger for their IBS symptoms. Several members noted that certain sugars seem worse than others, with honey, corn syrup, and chocolate being common culprits, while some found maple syrup or small amounts more tolerable, and one member mentioned that following a low FODMAP diet helped reduce bloating and cramps. A recurring theme was the frustration of unpredictable triggers, with many sharing their own dietary swaps like cinnamon, small portions, or sugar-free recipes to manage cravings without the pain.

This is an interesting read. Ive noticed mine doesnt have a pattern which can be so frustrating. Sometimes im good with certain foods and other times they leave me in agony. Sometimes wish if i knew trigger foods itd be easier to avoid and prevent the huge amount of pain x
